We had a firsthand look at the onboard facilities and enjoyed morning tea in the ship's boardroom before embarking on a guided tour of the vessel. Later we headed to Williamstown for a delicious two course lunch, then a tour of historic Williamstown with a commentary from our coach captain.
Established in 1976 the Tapestry Workshop has produced a significant collection of tapestries. Collaboration with artists is central to the idea of creating great tapestry art and over the years the ATW has worked with many leading international and local artists.
Have you ever wondered while strolling through beautiful Block Arcade what lies upstairs?
We took a guided tour to trace the history of this architectural treasure, a classic example of early Melbourne's development, to discover what lies high above the magnificent mosaic walkway.
The amazing Block Arcade (off Collins Street) tour concluded with a Devonshire tea at the Charles Dickens Restaurant Tavern, nestled in the arcade maze. Here are some pictures of the day.
Patricia West, who has been accompanying U3A Hawthorn Choir for the last 13 years, is retiring in June. The Choir is most grateful to Tricia for all those years of dedication, not only because of her wonderful piano skills but also because of her great patience in all circumstances and her unfailing and oft needed sense of humour.

Patricia West [L] with Judith Chipman
At a recent morning tea in her honour the Choir's Director, Judith Chipman, expressed the Choir's thanks and made a small presentation to Tricia. We all hope that she enjoys her well earned space to pursue other things.
A recent outing for the Birdwatching Class took in the fabulous Birds of Prey display at the Full Flight Conservation Centre, Flemington. Here are some photos, courtesy of class member Elaine Beech.

That means, of course, that the Choir needs a new accompanist, so, if you have been yearning for an outlet for your piano playing skills, U3A Hawthorn Choir would love to have you accompany them.

Held on Wednesday 23 March, this tour incorporated a visit to Mitchelton winery and Tahbilk winery together with a cruise on the Goulburn River. Apart from wine tasting, the tour included morning tea and a BBQ lunch.
It is apparent that those attending enjoyed themselves immensely!
On Friday, 8 April, the Committee hosted a thankyou afternoon tea for our Office Receptionists. This wonderful band of volunteers worked valiantly under very trying conditions following the extensive water damage in February.

We salute them for their can do attitude and perserverance during the trying start to 2011
whilst our Campus was being refurbished.
